Our Thoughts & Review of Emma Mattress (Promo Code Below)

The Emma Mattress comes to us from the UK, with that special elegance and level of quality only British know how to create.

It is a hybrid bed that manages to combine several layers from different worlds (foam, coils, and a special gel layer) into a one, extraordinary comfortable snoozing surface. The idea is to provide sleepers with a relaxing surface that’s also supportive of your spine and sleeping position. If we consider the adaptive sinking process and the perfect contouring of your body, we definitely can say they succeeded.

If you’re curious to know if they actually managed to achieve such a fine task, continue reading our review below. Of course, we have something for those of you who are in a rush; our summary is here.

Emma Mattress May Be a Perfect Pick If

  • You like the feel of hybrid mattresses – These surfaces are the best (in our opinion) because they combine the softness of foam beds with that push back action we like in innerspring.
  • You want a surface for good back support – The action of the coils layer is fantastic with Emma, and it creates the perfect sleeping surface for people who tend to wake up with pain around shoulders, hips, or neck.
  • You don’t like sleeping hot – The materials included in Emma are breathable and feature an open-cell structure that allows air to move up and down freely. Furthermore, there are special layers that are designed to keep cool even during the hottest nights.
  • You are a fan of the bed-in-a-box concept – The product comes in a box, rolled and compressed – just like most beds sold online these days. It requires some off-gassing, but this is natural with all surfaces that contain foam.
  • You need a stylish surface, that’s easy to install – The mattress is encased in a beautiful cover that’s elastic and soft to touch on top, but it has protective panels with handles on the side. Finally, the bottom has anti-slip elements that keep the surface in check.

Emma Bed May NOT Be That Great If

  • You are set on the memory foam feel – While there is some sinkage, Emma’s surface offers progressive adaptability to your body. This means it will sink just enough to adapt your unique shape, but that’s it!
  • You don’t trust hybrid surfaces – Emma was created after extensive research on products that already existed on the market and the team is young and result-driven. They did a fantastic job in combining four layers that will bring the most comfort, and the results are astonishing!
  • You need a mattress you can flip – The product is designed to offer only one surface for sleeping – the top one. You can rotate it if there’s really a need for this, but you won’t be able to flip it. Still, the presence of coils and other supportive layers guarantee for its durability, so if you’re worried about sagginess, it won’t happen with Emma.

How Is the Mattress Constructed?

Construction of Mattress Overview

Everything starts with the nice-looking cover that encases the 4-layer inner structure featured by Emma. The cool part is that the producer included special climate fiber in the weave, to help with humidity regulation. This keeps you dry and cool at night.

During our review, we tested the cover quite a lot, and we can definitely say that their mattresses are designed to fit the surface perfectly. The cover is stretchy so it will stay in place regardless of the situation and the . Side panels are also equipped with handles that help with positioning the bed on the frame or with rotating it.

Inside Emma, there are four layers, arranged as it follows:

  • A Layer of Airgocell® Foam – The foam in this layer is designed to provide point-elasticity and fantastic motion transfer. The foam will compress, following your body’s curves, but the rest of the surface won’t be affected. Finally, this is an open-pore foam structure which allows air to circulate, wicking heat away from you.
  • A Layer of Pocket Springs – Most producers like to position the layer of springs last, but Emma is a bit different. This layer features about 2000 individually wrapped springs, and their main purpose is to balance out any pressure disparities, in order to keep the hips, shoulders, and neck perfectly aligned.
  • A Layer of Improved Viscoelastic Material – This layer acts as an intermediary between the top two layers and the base. Since it’s a bit slower in response, its main role is to optimally distribute pressure received from the layers above, and adapt it to your body’s unique shape and needs. This is where the magic happens for any sleep position!
  • The Base – To provide maximum durability and solid support for the layers above, the base is made of firm foam. Still, the foam is specially designed to sleep cold and be responsive enough to act as counter pressure to the layers on top. It’s also the layer that makes sure your back is well-supported.

Firmness Scale

Emma – Firmness Level: 6/10

Since there’s only one version of Emma, it’s only normal that the firmness would be medium-firm. So, if you need a softer surface for side sleeping, you may want to consider a different brand.

Still, as we reviewed it, we noticed the mattress could easily accommodate any sleeping position. This is possible due to the progressive sinking technology that gives Emma the possibility to react to the level of pressure you exert. As a result, the surface will adapt to your body’s needs and contours, keeping the spine aligned, regardless of position.

We also noticed that the surface is self-regulating according to your weight and size. In our opinion, anyone could enjoy Emma, but it’s best to give it a try before deciding to stick with it forever.

Will You Be Warm? (Sleeps Cool or Hot)

Made in UK Cooling Layer

Producers paid special attention to the temperature regulating system, and the result can be seen on Emma’s cold surface, that keeps your body at optimum temperature during the night.

From the breathable cover with special climate fiber, and going through the top three layers that are specially designed to allow air to move up and down, we finish with the cold layer of foam at the base.

While reviewing it, we had different members of our team test the surface, and no one complained about it sleeping hot.

Edge Support

Pressure Support on the Edge

There’s a commonly known fact that compressed beds don’t do that well when it comes to edge support. Still, Emma behaved nicely during our review.

Of course, because there is no reinforcement, you will see some compression when you sit on the edge, but when you move away from the center while sleeping, the surface will hold its own. In translation, you can use the entire surface for sleeping, as you won’t feel like you’ll roll out of bed as you approach the edge.

Summary

We were impressed by the innovative technology that characterizes Emma from top to bottom. Starting with the special cover, moving on with the Airgocell® foam layer, and ending with the impressive base, this is truly a modern product!

The idea of a snoozing surface that perfectly adapts to your body is at the base of any hybrid mattress, but Emma is the only product that managed to get this close. The top layers work with the base in providing sleepers with the perfect sinkage and support while keeping everything cool and dry.

Overall we really enjoyed reviewing Emma and it may actually be the one universal bed that can satisfy everyone’s wishes (almost everyone’s, of course).
